how sweet does alexa chung's DJing style look? i wish i'd had an outfit like this to wear to karaoke tonight...i am loving the contrast between the message tee and the metallic skirt, will have to try that mix sometime..

tonight, my friend and i (under the stage name "twist and styles") were lucky enough to win a karaoke contest at the bar on campus. this was my first time singing karaoke in public, but i have to say we went all out in our rendition of destiny's child's "say my name." it was such a hilarious moment, and the cash prize will certainly be put to good use :o)..xx

"you must never double cuff the pants"

...but surely you can double cuff your arms. 

i heard a few months back that tory burch was starting a trend by wearing identical cuffs on both arms..although i have yet to see the designer rock such a look, i still thought it was an interesting idea. since then, i have come across several examples of the double cuff: olivia wilde at the people's choice awards, vintage photo of the effortlessly fabulous jackie o, and 70s tv superhero wonder woman! the hard part is finding plain gold cuffs on the cheap. i will certainly be on the lookout..xx

better whip out that bedazzler

...aka pyramid studs part deux

while everyone and their mother have been donning pyramid studs these days, i do have to say that i am intrigued by the DIY aspect of studding...i loved what teen vogue did in november's issue, especially with the yellow edie rose dress. i also loved the idea of adding studs to these plain ballet flats. and the studded leggings ($16, forever 21) seem like a fun alternative to the overexposed liquid leggings, dontcha think? xx

p.s. studsandspikes.com definitely has the best and cheapest selection of studs..if you can see past the slightly gothic/scary appearance of the website

it's never too late

i finally gave in and bought the jeffrey campbell 'marly' platform sandals/booties that i have been lusting after ever since i tried them on in an LF store in october...can't wait for them to arrive! i have seen them worn with leggings, thick socks and chunky sweaters before, which i think is a great concept for the colder winter months...but i don't know if i will attempt to pull that look off. guess we shall see in 3-5 business days! xx

after-holiday acquisitions

first off, i am back after several blog-less months! second off, i scored these items in huge after-holiday sales...the cloisonné was only $1 at a church sale, i added a plain chain and voila! the crystal necklace reminds me of a mawi one alexa chung has worn in the past...xx
